Corporate Failure formed in 2009. Starting as loose jam sessions between Guitarist Kasey Katusky and Drummer John Reincke, Joe McShan (also known as hip hop artist Jae Havoc) eventually joined as the vocalist after meeting through mutual friends. Bassist Phil Gunn later joined after a chance meeting with Reincke and McShan, forming the final line up that would become Corporate Failure. Having a rough start due to the revolving absences of Gunn and Katusky, the band eventually would came together consistently enough to write several songs. Playing their first show at Kathy's Pub in Rochester, MN in 2010. Bassist Gunn was at that point away in Georgia for basic training, leaving his spot to be temporarily be filled by his wife, Ellie Gunn. With the full line up together, the band began to play several shows in the Rochester metropolitan area beginning in the spring of 2011. They Released their first EP, Minnesota Nice on June 21st, 2011, which was recorded by Derek Stevenson, Joe McShan, and Kevin Casey in RCTC's Studio A.
