About

In a time when the term punk rock is bandied about for easy access to credibility, Where’s Billy are true exponents of a punk/rock sound and ideal for 2011 onwards one that ensures everything centers around a constant musical (r)evolution. There’s a dark side to this band, a world-weariness, and some honest-to-whoever honesty all balled up into a completely kinetic force. Even the jaded kid’s can’t help but sing along to those two different-but-perfectly-complementary voices, singer/guitarist Darren Robinson’s triumphant rasp and lead guitarist/singer James ‘Milky’ Watson’s more measured, sweet croon as they combine to completely wreck audiences with bittersweet songs about love, loss, Girls, life, happiness and pain. All of this comes from four guys, about as many chords; lead heavy Riffs and a healthy supply of beer and heartbreak. Sporting their current line up since July 2008; Darren Robinson – Lead vocal/Guitar, James ‘Milky’ Watson - Lead Guitar/Vocal, James Lant – Bass and Mike ‘B unit’ Daines –Drums, Where’s Billy have come leaps and bound since with a full independent UK tour in 2010, Massive shows at The London Astoria 2 and Indgo2 at the O2 arena along with many festival appearances thrown in. WB are currently in the process of supporting their E.P "The Truth Hurts" with more UK dates and a second string of dates across America in October 2011 Recorded over 10 days at Steak out studios in Hampton Court, The Truth Hurts is 5 storming tracks from Where’s Billy? The lead single ‘Anxiety’ has achieved regular airplay on Digital and online radio stations. The four following tracks This Time, The Truth Hurts, Escape From The Darkest Mind and the stomping Thoughts and Fears are not to be over looked either and have been very well received live. With its January 2011 release date, ‘The Truth Hurts” looks to be one of the leading and most hotly anticipated Independent Releases of a UK unsigned band, and Where’s Billy? A band not to be missed!

  • Some reviews of 'THE TRUTH HURTS' EP

Are Wheres Billy the UK’s equivalent to Dave Grohl and co? To be honest, I’m still not convinced. But, I also think that it’s an unfair comparison. Yes, there is a strong Foo Fightery vibe here, but I don’t think that’s the be all and end all. Wheres Billy are their own band, not a covers band or a tribute act. As well as the aforementioned Foo Fighter influence, there’s also a nod to Punk, a wink to Classic Rock and enough big choruses to have you singing along quite happily. For some reason Wheres Billy’s music, particularly the mellower moments, makes me think that it would work brilliantly in the soundtrack of an American drama series. And I mean this in the most positive of ways! As far as I’m concerned, this is a very promising EP and one well-worth your hard-earned pennies. Highlight: “Thoughts and Fears” Rating: 80% Read the full review here; http://louciferspeaks.com/2011/02/11/wheres-billy-the-truth-hurts-ep/ I would say that the band fit into the punk rock category very well, although sticking another label on them isn’t being fair. There are shades of classic punk bands such as Dead Kennedys and Sex Pistols, into the more modern punk bands such as Green Day, NOFX , and SUM 41 and the like. Thrown into the mix, you have some great vocals and some real melodic moments, as well as some classic rock pulled straight out of the top drawer...
